Mouse Problem MBA

MBA yang dibeli beberapa tahun lepas namun jarang-jarang digunakan, tiba-tiba buat hal setelah hampir sebulan tak dihidupkan. Masalahnya simple, mouse pointer tidak wujud ketika tiba screen untuk login user selepas boot. Built in mouse pad pun tidak berfungsi. Dengan keadaan badan yang letih setelah seharian di KLCC dan Pavilion serta Subang Parade, otak agak buntu. Sebenarnya masih boleh login tetapi kena guna keyboard. Bila dah login, saya cuba shut down, ketika shutdown nampak ada error tetapi MBA tetap terus shut down. 

Saya on kembali dan login guna keyboard, lepas tu jenguk Apps Update. Ada update software around 7xx MB. Terus saya update. Proses updating took me around 5-7 minutes including downloading and installing. Sempat la baring luruskan badan. Lepas reboot, semua fungsi normal kembali. Terus update blog. Belum lagi shut down. Hopefully no weird error messages again. 

Last two days it was a disaster for me and my IT tools. Saya terdelete partition D saya di PC di bilik pejabat saya. Dah la D tu ada pelbagai scanned documents for the last 3 years. Only some of them yang saya still simpan dalam bentuk paper. Yang lain semua dah dimusnahkan. Lepas delete partition, saya format pula partition tu. Saya ingatkan itu adalah thumbdrive saya. All of this because of trying to save one FREE 2GB thumbdrive yang virtually had nothing in it. Actually I still did not realized I had delete and formatted my D drive. It was as simple as slicing a papaya. When I tried to open my 2GB thumbdrive and it still says I had lost 1.8GB of it (this was the problem earlier due to taking out the thumbdrive while formatting), I thought the thumbdrive could not be saved so I throw away into the dustbin. 

Then I lookup at my PC and try to browse drive D for my archived Data and this is when I realized my D is gone. Mengigil tangan woi, nak menangis pun ada. Dalam kepala dah agak, a lot of Archived Data dah hilang. It's like a nation had lost its National Archive where all of the country's memory had been destroyed. I felt like I was a newborn again. 

First thing is, it will took sometime for me to realize the damage done as these drive D data will be looked on when the need arises, usually when I try to remember something or some past transaction is in dispute for whatever reason. 

The next day, I had tried to download a freeware recovery tool which says that it can recover data that had been deleted and formatted. As it was a freeware, it can only recover 1GB of data unless I can fork out some money to pay the developer, which when converted into RM, was quite a lot. 

I tried and it works, I could recover all my scanned documents. Sambil bersiul-siul sambil backup semua in my external hdd, which was supposed to be done every 3-6 months but disebabkan tangguh, tak buat.

Tiba-tiba sebelum balik, tergerak nak open one of the document, it was corrupted. Ingatkan semua normal sebab dia berjaya retrieve semua file, lengkap every single filename, actual size and date created. So I downloaded PDF Repair tool and it says the data was corrupted. So here we are, double sadness. It was so near, yet so far.

Whatever it is, all of them are personal data. I was supposed to back them up inside my external but I keep on delaying as I thought nothing will happen as it was in Drive D and I am not that stupid to format it, but I was wrong. Sometimes the stupid thing does occur and it had happened to me. Luckily my PhD data and chapters are all in drive C and the crucial ones were regularly backed up into cloud drives.
